Vaginal pH BV Test Kit

Often searched for as a BV test at home, the U-Test Vaginal pH Test Kit is a home self-test that checks vaginal pH from a swab sample. A pH result by itself cannot diagnose bacterial vaginosis (BV), thrush or a sexually transmitted infection, and it cannot identify which treatment is appropriate. Follow the kit leaflet for the sample method and result window.

What a vaginal pH test can and cannot tell you

The test gives a pH reading according to its instructions. Vaginal symptoms can have different causes, and a pH result alone is not a diagnosis. The NHS advises against self-diagnosing changes in vaginal discharge.

If your discharge changes in smell, colour or texture, or you have soreness, itching, pain or another concern, contact your GP or a sexual health clinic. If you are pregnant and notice a change, speak with your GP or midwife. Read the NHS bacterial vaginosis advice and NHS guidance on vaginal discharge.

Vaginal pH test questions

How does a BV home test work?

It measures vaginal pH from a swab. BV can raise vaginal pH, but other things can change pH too, so a raised reading is a prompt to seek advice rather than a diagnosis. Read the result within the time stated in the leaflet.

Does this test confirm BV?

No. It measures pH; a result alone cannot diagnose BV. Contact a GP or sexual health clinic if you think you may have BV or have symptoms.

Can it tell whether I have thrush or an STI?

No. This is not a test for thrush or STIs. Ask a healthcare professional about symptoms or possible exposure and the right test for you.

What should I do if I have symptoms?

Do not rely on a pH result to self-diagnose or choose treatment. Contact a GP or sexual health clinic for advice, especially if symptoms persist or change.

If you may have an STI, view the Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea Combo Test or contact a sexual health clinic for advice on suitable tests.

Why Do a Rapid Vaginal pH Health Test?

1. Detect Imbalances Early

The pH of your vagina is crucial for overall health. A test helps detect imbalances that could lead to infections, irritation, or discomfort.
